Happy New Year!

Our first week of 2018 was a short one, but we managed to squeeze in a lot of learning!

We started the week by updating our hopes and dreams for the new year.
In writers workshop we have started writing persuasive letters!  If your child writes you a letter, please consider writing a return letter for our class to read together.  We got some great inspiration from the book I Wanna Iguana by Karen Kaufman Orloff...maybe it will inspire you, too!

In readers workshop we've started studying non-fiction books.  Soon, students will be completing a special non-fiction book sheet for each informational text they read.
In math we've been practicing comparing numbers using > , < , and =, measuring intricate paths, and creating number scrolls that go beyond 120.
In science we have started a unit on balance and motion.  This unit gives students a chance to develop some engineering skills, use the concept of trial and error in science, and flex their perseverance muscles!
