Welcome December!

Our new Everyday Math unit focuses on measurement!  Students measured lots of objects this week with non-standard units of measurement like pencils, toothpicks, paperclips, and base-10 blocks.  Their focus was to use the measurement tool end-to-end and avoid any gaps or overlaps while measuring. 

In science we've started studying the sun and solar system as a precursor to our focused study of the winter solstice during the month of December!

In writers workshop students practiced using a checklist to aid them in the revision process of their realistic fiction stories.

In word study we've started learning about digraphs.  In addition, students are practicing writing sentences using correct capitalization, punctuation, and spacing.
